Impact of Indian Cinema
We Indian are very adoptive, so the impact of Indian cinemas on Indian society is huge. In our society we already in the practice of so many ridiculous system and tradition which have withheld the progress to a better society.
Caste system, child marriage, untouchability, dowry system had enormously damaged our society and it will make a huge impact on the upcoming generation.
Cinema films are the main source of entertainment and it directly impact on the every individual of the society. If we can use cinemas as a tool, it can do a lot to eradicate these evils. It can be used to maintain national harmony, national integration, inter caste marriages, eradication of illiteracy, empowering the women, etc. These themes can be used to deliver a strong message among people and mostly to the youth.
Yes there are such films existed in Indian cinemas like Mother India, Achhut Kanya, Rang de basanti, Tare Zameen par, Article 15 and many more but the number of these kind of film is less. Indian cinema is not just for the entertainment but it’s a big business, so there are so many variable views.
Actor and actresses mean it for the money and popularity among people, where as producers and financers consider it as a lucrative business. While director story writer takes as an artwork. Every individual has significant role in Indian cinema. Cinema and celebrities now act as a mass influencer. It is undoubtedly a booming industries, but when it goes in a wrong direction and badly impacted on youth then it’s a time to apply filter on it. Nowadays cinemas has taken dirty move and not just cinema but the web series also impact badly on youth’s mind. And it’s shameful to say but they are trending these things being cool. The audience has evolved mentally and intellectually. But there are certain age group people who has hugely impacted by these cinemas i.e age group of 16 years to 25 year.
The content of recent web series and films are full of violence and adultery, and people acknowledge it as trend. Cinemas has emerged as one of the biggest platform for brand endorsement. One side government has banned the pornography and porn on the internet and other hand Indian movies and the web series are delivering the rich adult content. There is huge difference between the reel and the real. In reel we see stalkers get the girl just by passing some comments, by teasing them, by kidnapping them because its love, but in the real it can put them behind the bar. And obviously you can’t get the girls by all these because every girls wanted to be loved and respected.
Being an Indian we all have the responsibility to save our values, custom and tradition. The history of Indian cinema started with the movie Raja Harish Chandra in 1913, it’s quite clear, the entertainment can be done with saving our values. The biggest question is at what cost we are getting entertain? At the cost of our values, isn’t.
The web series like Mirzapur, Sacred games, Apaharan etc, what messages they are giving to our society? Why we are not reacting on it? And the irony is these are the trending shows. I strongly believe these kind of shows has to apply some filter on it. Abusing language, using women as a things, violence and the message from these must not be acceptable to our society.
The direction, in which Indian cinemas and Film industries are moving today, has generated huge conflicts among Indian society. Where we are not able seek the attention how it is threat to the moral values of adolescents. The problem is the fundamental, that damaging for not only youth but the whole upcoming generation. The impact of Indian cinemas on society is not just custom but morality too. We are already too late to take an action against the direction of the Indian cinemas. And it’s a high time, when researcher should come forward and check the impact of it on ground level, so the concern authorities could take an action against it.
